Nature's Beauty ~ A Stampin' Up! Card!

Today's card was inspired by a card I saw in the SU! 2019 Holiday Catalog on p. 27.  My card doesn't look anything like their card, but it got an idea going and I created from there.

Lakeside ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Well it's time I share another card with you, but I have to admit I hate typing up blog posts.  Does anyone else feel that way about writing?  It's just not my thing, but I want to share a few cards with you in the next week or so that I created for the first round when I was trying out for the creative team. :)

Hi Everyone!
I've been busy making cards for convention that's coming up in less than two weeks!
I can't wait to go and have some fun!
Today's card is what I created during a live Stamp Off with my friend Glenda.

Winter Holiday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Merry Christmas!
I want to share the Christmas cards I created for my brother to give to his sons for this year.
I stamped the trees making sure the bottoms of them were masked and stamped the word Christmas.  Then I placed on a round sticky note to mask where I wanted the moon to be.  Next I sponged...a LOT!  I started by masking the trees using Pool Play ink and sponging under them to create some hills.  Next I sponged all around the moon starting with Pool Play.  Then I added Catalina Splash making sure I didn't sponge as far in as I did with Pool Play.  I finished off with Denim Days once again not going as far in so you can see the three different colors on the card.  The last thing I stamped was the deer using Black Licorice ink.  After that I quickly assembled the card together with a couple of layers.

Whip Cream
Lemon Grass
Kiwi Slice

Nature Trees ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card with Video

I haven't done any sponging in a while and wanted to get a little bit of it in again.  I decided to use the pine tree stamp from the Fun Stampers Journey set called Nature Trees to create a nighttime masculine card.

To create this card I stamped the trees onto Whip Cream card stock with three different ink pads:  Rock Candy, River Stone and Black Licorice.  Then I masked an area for the moon using a 1-1/2" circle.  After that it's time to sponge for a bit.  With this type of sponging I dab the sponge directly up and down...no circles or rubbing back and forth (and I always dab it onto my scrap paper before putting it directly on the paper so I know how dark the ink is). I started with the lightest gray (River Stone) and sponged around the moon, moving away from the moon.  I wanted that area to be the lightest so I'm pretty careful when I sponge where I want the most light to show.  Next I used Rock Candy, but started on the edges and in the corners and dabbed the color inward, pulling it toward the moon until the lighter and darker grays mixed together the way I liked.  The last color I sponged was Black Licorice.  I only used that in the corners and on some of the edges.  I was careful with this color because I didn't want to drown out the grays. I put on just enough to blend it in with the darker gray.

Here's a video of how I sponged the card...

Black Licorice
Rock Candy
River Stone
Whip Cream
