Beauty Blooms ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is a special card because I made it for my sister's birthday. :)
I did a bit of watercolor (OK a LOT of watercolor) to create this card.  It took a bit longer than I thought, but I love how it turned out. :D

I'm patiently waiting for FSJ new Liquid Colors that I ordered, but until they arrive I'll stick with my splashes.  That's what I used on this card.  The image is embossed in white and then painted in.  I did one petal at a time by adding water first, then painting with Pineapple Smoothie color splash and last I added a bit of Sweet Berry Color Splash.  Each petal turned out differently and I liked the look of that. I also put sparkle silk on each of the petals to give them a bit of shimmer. :)  The leaves were pretty easy.  They are mostly embossed and I added a mixture of Sour Lemon and Lemon Grass Color Splash.  I didn't wipe the color off the embossed leaves because I wanted them to stay green.  The last thing I did was add the blue for the sky using Cool Pool Color Splash.  Simple right? lol  Not quite, but I just keep plugging away at it because I love the look of watercolor. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Using Splashes as Watercolor ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is something that I've been doing a little bit of lately...watercolor.  I love the look of watercolor and was inspired by a video by thefrugalcrafter.  Check her out!  She does a LOT of different kinds of crafting and has videos galore! lol
So I'm telling you right now I did not come up with this scene on my own.  I did use my own colors because I don't have any actual watercolor paints.  I try to use what I have on hand from Fun Stampers Journey.  For today's card that means using Journey Color Splashes!

I tried this on several different watercolor papers and found that I liked it the best on 140 lb hot press watercolor paper.  Anything with texture didn't seem to work for me.  Probably because I wasn't using true watercolor paints.  I've never used them though so I don't really know!

These are the color of card stock that I used.

Whip Cream
Lemon Grass
Kiwi Slice
Denim Days

Yes, these are the Journey Splashes that I used.  I just did a bit of mixing. :)

Pineapple Smoothie
Sour Lemon
Sweet Berry
Cool Pool
Turbo Teal

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Turtley Awesome ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

How fun is today's card!  I think most of you know my favorite color to use on a card is blue, but did you actually know my favorite color is green?  And today I got to combine them to create this fun card for my nephew's birthday...and it's Turtley Awesome! lol  Just a little fun pun for you. :)  I can't believe I haven't played with this set yet!  Guess I didn't have a reason to until now.

This card was pretty easy to create.  I did do just a bit of fussy cutting, but dies are available for this set if you hate fussy cutting!! :) To create my background I did a watercolor wash using Journey Splashes (Lemon Grass and Turbo Teal).  I also used the same Journey Splashes to color in my turtle and seaweed after I embossed them in white (just a note that I did all of this on watercolor paper).

Lemon Grass
Kiwi Slice
Blue Lagoon
Turbo Teal

Easter Blessings ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Yes, today's post is titled Easter Blessing because that's the name of the stamp set that I used.  However I ended up using it as an anniversary card.  I'm really looking forward to an anniversary stamp (hopefully stamps) in the new catalog coming out in July, but for now the Well Wishes from May's Bloom Box is what I'm going to use. :)

So back to today's card...I created it for my sister and brother-in-law's anniversary.  Yup, it's girly because of the flowers.  Maybe next year I'll make one that's a bit more masculine (if I remember! lol).  Anywhoo I wanted to try my hand at a bit more watercolor.  Turned out kind of funky.  Some people like this look and others don't.  It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I'm still learning so it'll do for me. :)

Dahlia Burst ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is special because I made it for my mom for her birthday. :)  I know I've made a lot of blue cards lately, but it just seems to be the color that works for me...and it's my mom's favorite color. :)

I stamped the image with clear pigment ink on watercolor paper and embossed it with white embossing power.  Then I used Journey Splashes mixed with water to watercolor in the flowers and leaves.  I did a bit of light blue around the whole image too and did some blue and green splats.

Whip Cream

Blue Lagoon
Lemon Grass
Green Olive

Rainbow Bubbles Birthday Bunch ~ A Group of Fun Stampers Journey Cards!

A couple of days ago I said I'd  have a few more cards to show you that talked about a technique I used on each card.  Notice the hearts, triangles, stripes and honeycombs?  Those were all created using Modeling Paste from fun Stampers Journey and four different dies that they offer.  An easy technique to add just a little pizzazz or fun background to any of your cards.

As you look at each of the cards a little closer you'll see that I didn't try to make the modeling paste perfectly smooth or only have the shapes on my card.  I wanted them a bit rough and even let the paste go over the edges of the die-cut paper so there were edges here and there.  The first one I made was the honeycomb card and it isn't quite as thick as the rest, but that was my first try at it.  I know I will be using this technique in the future for sure! :)

This is the card I posted a couple of days ago...

I made a fish just like this one a week or so ago and loved the color of it, so I made this one the same color.

I did a bit of a watercolor wash on this card.  Since the background was a little darker than the other cards I kept my fish white and covered them with Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust.

I didn't add any glaze or sparkles to this card because I'm sure I'll give it to a boy and I'm positive most of them aren't into that as much as girls are.  I did make the fish a couple of different colors to make him pop out a bit more from the card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

If You Dream It... ~ with Fun Stampers Journey

Hey Everyone...I'm back from Vegas and have been running like crazy ever since!  I guess playing catch up is not my thing! lol
I have to say I had a GREAT time at Fun Stampers Journey Leadership Conference!  If you ever want to be a part of a great company, let me tell you this is one that you will love!  Richard and Gabby Garay (the co-founders) are great people who love their coaches and show it!  I can't say enough about their generosity to all of us while we were at Leadership!  If you're thinking of joining I'd love to have you on my team!!

And now on to a card that I created for my upline's meeting last night.  She sent everyone in her downline candy dots and asked us to create a card or project with them.

This is one of the cards I created using the candy dots and it's going to sit on my desk to inspire me to dream big! :D

Wow...shimmer much? lol  Ok, it is shimmery, but not this much.

I created the background using my brayer.  I started with Bubble Gum ink and brayered it over the whole piece of card stock, then I added Watermelon Fusion.  You can see where the darker pink stops in the moon.  After I did those two colors I put a circle cut out of scrap paper on to create the moon, then brayered on Grape Fusion and finally Pretty  Pansy.  After I was done with the brayer I carefully took the "moon" off and spritzed the brayered background piece with Journey Silver Splash. Next I used Clear Pigment Ink and stamped the castle and words, then embossed them in silver.  The last step was to assemble the card and put on the finishing touch...the candy dots.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
