Hello Fall ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Who doesn't love the colors that fall brings?
Most of us do and I had to create another fall card while the season is here.
I started following a new sketch challenge FB group called Journey Sketches and couldn't resist creating this quick and simple thank you card.  Plus I needed a card for my October stamp a stacks and this sketch was perfect for whipping up a card!
There are so many ways to color leaves, but for this card I used three different ink colors from Fun Stampers Journey (listed below).  I used sponges to dab the color onto the stamp starting with the lightest and dabbing it all over the stamp.  Then I added the second color and dabbed it around the edges making sure I left some yellow in the middle.  The last and darkest color I dabbed just around the edges of the stamp.  Does that make sense?  I hope so!  After I cut out the leaf (with a die, of course!) I spritzed it with Sparkle Silk that was mixed with 70% rubbing alcohol to make it shimmer all over.  My camera just didn't want to pick that up this time...bummer! lol

Autumn Days - Again! ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I have a feeling these are the last fall cards I'll be posting in a while.  Yuppers, the color here in my part of Michigan is pretty much gone.  There's an occasional tree here and there that are a little behind with some bright red, yellow or rust color still around, but they'll be gone soon enough...I sure did enjoy the show while it lasted though!  I had to create a couple more cards to extend fall just a little longer...and because I had a lot of left over leaves I needed to use!

So the top card shows a little Gold Shimmer Color Splash, but the bottom shows a ton.  It's just the way the light is hitting it because it's not as shiny as what you see below!

I added Gold and Bronze Silks to each of my cards too.  I had just bought them and couldn't resist trying them out!

This is the second card I made...

I like the layout of my first card better, but I think I like the colors on this card more.

I definitely didn't use as much of the silks on this card.  I was new at using them on the first card, so I wasn't quite as heavy-handed on the second card. lol  I do have a few pictures from an earlier post HERE that show how I created the leaves if you're interested in checking it out.  I just made these colors a little darker and more intense than on the cards in that post.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

So Grateful ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card and Try Stampin' on Tuesday Blog Hop

Welcome to the last challenge for October over at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday.  This month we've been focusing on Holiday themed cards and projects.  I've been posting Christmas cards, but decided to do more of a Fall/Thanksgiving card this time around.  Plus it's a Blog Hop too!  I love going from blog to blog in a blog hop and I hope you have as much fun as I do checking out everyone's cards.  When you're done checking out my post make sure you head over to the talented Sharon Burkert's Blog HERE so you can see what she created!  I'll have more news below about prizes, so make sure you keep reading...

I created a couple of different cards with this week's sketch and I love how the cards turned out!

I used Pan Pastels to create the color on my leaves (yes, again! lol) and spritzed them with Journey Shimmer Gold Color Splash and also added the speckled look with Gold Silk.  So excited that I finally got some!!

This is the second card I created.  Love the multi-colored leaves on both of the cards!

This Oak leaf got a big dobber of gold silk! lol

Ok...I said there would be prizes, right?  Well in order to be able to be eligible to win a prize you just need to comment on every blog post of this blog hop.  Yup, that's it, and one of you will be the lucky winner!  Remember you need to head over to Sharon's blog HERE after you're done with mine.  If you  missed the previous post in the blog hop head back to the lovely LeAnne's blog HERE.  I hope you enjoyed hopping with us!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Autumn Days with Fun Stampers Journey

I finally have my first card to show you with Fun Stampers Journey!!  I actually made it three days ago, but had to wait to post it because I made it specifically for the challenge at Try Stampin' - or not - on Tuesday.  I love to make fall cards, or at least use fall colors and that's what I did today. I have to admit it's looking a little empty at the bottom where my sentiment is supposed to be, so I put my watermark there hoping it wouldn't look quite so odd!  It still does, but whoever gets it eventually will have a finished card. :)

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' - or not - on Tuesday HERE to check out all the other fun cards made using this week's sketch.  I didn't do the banner, but tried to "copy" the shape across the cards with the leaves

I used the stamp set Autumn Days and stamped the leaves with Black Licorice.  Then I used my Journey Color Splash watercolor pencils to color my leaves in.  I didn't actually color them though.  I used a paint brush to pull the color off of the tips of my pencils onto a block.  Then it was simple to watercolor them since it was like having a mini-palette of watercolors.  Once the leaves were dry I cut them out using the Autumn Days Die and spritzed them with Shimmer Gold Color Splash and let me tell you I sure have been waiting to get my hands onto something shimmery like that again!!!  I've been making my own for the past few years and was almost out of the supply of what I used to make it and it wasn't nearly as sparkly because I diluted it.  I only bought the gold and silver so far and sprayed just a bit of the silver to see what it was like...yup, it shimmers and sparkles!  I think I'm going to need to take it easy and not buy any of the other colors for a while. lol  Now on to the rest of how I made the card.  I spritzed a bit of the shimmer gold onto my background piece, then got a paintbrush wet and using the watercolor left on my block I tapped a couple of different colors on both the background piece and the leaves.  Then I just assembled the card.  It was actually pretty quick and easy (well, as quick and easy as it is for me to put a card together from start to finish! lol).

Thanks for  looking and have a great day!

Water Colored Vintage Leaves

Today's card is inspired by the colors over at the Color Throwdown challenge #362.  As soon as I saw the rich earthy colors I new I need to make some sort of card using them.  Since my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's anniversary is coming up I though I'd make an anniversary card using them...and I just had to pull out the 2014-2016 In Colors from Stampin' Up!  I love this group of colors!

I created the leaves by stamping the images on watercolor paper using VersaMark and embossing them in gold.  Then I used my Leaflets Framelits to to cut them out.  Once I had them cut out I worked on one leaf at a time.  I wet the whole leaf using an aquapainter, then started adding color from my ink pad lits onto the leaf.  I used Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow on the smallest leaf, Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey on the oak leaf, and Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey on the maple leaf.  I know some of the colors on the leaves are not nearly as dark as the ink pads.  That's because I played around with them a little bit by adding water if I thought the color was too dark and also by mixing the colors together.  I never would have thought I'd get the red I did on the maple leaf, but taking the time to play around with the colors and mixing them can really be worth the effort! :)  The background of the card is watercolor paper also and I did a basic watercolor wash on it using Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow again.  I also used a stamp from the set Gorgeous Grunge on the background piece.  I stamped it with Mossy Meadow, but made sure I stamped off the watercolor paper onto scrap paper two times, then spritzed it with some water before I stamped it onto the watercolor paper.  I added a touch of lined thread here and there and the Happy Anniversary to finish it off.

I also stamped leaves on the inside that were light enough to write over.  Yup I totally forgot to take a picture before I wrote all over it. lol  That's ok since I usually put that off until the last thing.  I just do NOT have a way with words, especially in cards so if I have something on my mind I write it before I forget it! lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Blue, Blue and More Blue...

I have to say I sure do miss my laptop!!  I can't believe how much easier it is to post on my blog when I can do everything from one place.  We sure are spoiled by technology aren't we...that is until it decides to crash on us! lol  Anyway today I have  a couple of cards for you that I was challenged to make by my upline.  She wanted us to try the embossed scenic background technique...at least that's what she calls it. :)  I started working on it the other night and just got frustrated since it wouldn't emboss my whole background.  I set it down and figured I was too tired and needed to work on it another time.  So I picked it up the next morning and realized I just needed to put a shim under it when I ran it through my Big Shot, so that's what I did and I was good to go again.

As you can see I decided to make two different card using the same colors.  Since I knew I needed a baby boy card I figured the stars would be the perfect background for that.  The second card is the one I was so frustrated with.  I ran it through a second time and got color on the trees, but decided I didn't really mind the look of it and went with it.  Can you see the huge mistake that I did make on the card and didn't correct before I took the pics?  I guess I was still too tired to work on it in the morning too! lol  I'll be changing that huge mistake before I send the card out! ;)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Vintage Leaves Birthday

I totally forgot to schedule my post for today so it's a little later than I planned!  I'm sure that's never happened to anyone else right? lol  Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday and once again they have a great sketch for us to work with.  Since I had a new set and had some fall colors on my mind I decided to make a couple of the shapes into leaves and turn my card into more of a masculine card.

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' HERE to check out the other great cards using this sketch and play along if you get the chance.  We'd love to see what each of you create. :)

To color my leaves first stamped each of the leaves, cut them out with framelits, then started sponging them with different colors.  Then I spritzed them with rubbing alcohol and crumpled them up.  I use alcohol because it dries a LOT faster than water.  I unfolded them, straightened them out a bit and there you have it...a couple of fall leaves. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

So Grateful for You

Can you believe it?!  I'm not posting a card.  I think I've done that twice this month.  I guess it is that time of year though when we start to think about gifts for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. So for today's Friday Mashup challenge we needed to make a box project.  I was thinking about using the 2"x 2" box that Stampin Up! is selling right now, but decided to quickly make up my own instead because I wanted to put leaves on it and the other box would have been way too small.  So here's our fun challenge from Lisa this week...

Create a "Box Project".
Create a project with a "Thanksgiving or Thankful Theme".
or Mash it Up! and create a "Thanksgiving- or Thankful-Themed Box".

To make the box I cut two 5" x 5" pieces of Naturals Ivory card stock, ran it through the big shot using the woodgrain embossing folder, scored it at 1" on every side, snipped in a few spots and taped the sides together...bam you have a box.  Ok, so there's just a little more to it than that, but once you've done it a time or two it's pretty easy.  I sponged the 2014-2016 In Colors on my leaves and used the Gorgeous Grunge set for the spots on the leaves.

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup HERE to see the other great projects and to play along too.  We'd love to see what you create. :)

Autumn Accents Thinking of You

Another quick post for today of one of my November stamp a stack cards.  A quick and simple card using the Bigz Die Autumn Accents.  After the leaves were cut out I quickly ran them through a few different embossing folders, then did a bit of sponging on each of the leaves.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
