Nature's Harvest ~ A Stampin' Up! Card!

Today's card might use a retired stamp set, but it was one of my favorites so I'm keeping it around for a while. Plus my mom requested that I make a card for my stamp a stacks using this set.

Snappy Birthday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Yes, it's the 4th of July here in the U.S. but I ended up creating a birthday card for today's post that was inspired by Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday's sketch challenge #329.  My daughter likes blue and orange together, so she got it on her b-day card.  Not sure what she thought of it.  I never asked. lol

Make sure you check out what the other designers created HERE.  If you get a chance to play along I'd love to see what you create! :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Summer Rose ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I finally have another card to share with you all today and it's inspired by this week's sketch challenge #298 over at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday.  Boy was this sketch a challenge for me!  I really like the sketch, but my creativity was just off or something.  I ended up creating a card, didn't really like it and started another one instead.

Usually the first picture showing my card is on an angle and the picture looking directly at the card is in the middle.  I switched things up a bit today because only one angle of my card showed the Gold Shimmer Color Splash.  That's one of the things I love about the card...the shimmer on the leaves and Roses, so I had to show it first. :)

Make sure you check out all the cards the other designers made HERE...they are great this week!!

I used the sketch, but definitely took things to a different level. lol  I used a background stamp for the middle rectangle, a small rose for the smallest rectangle and turned my card 90 degrees!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lovely Day ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I love this stamp called Lovely Day.  It's not too big or too small and fits perfectly on a card front.  When I made this card I hadn't been doing a lot of watercolor at all and missed it so I pulled out this stamp and tried to make the color of the flower similar to Rich Coral just not as dark.  I love the color Rich Coral...it's perfect for a poppy and when I get the stamp set Wonderful Day I'm sure I'll be using it again even though we're knee deep into fall right now.

I stamped the flowers using Black Licorice, made sure it was dry then got busy coloring the petals in.  I really don't remember what pencils I used.  I just pulled them out, rubbed the color off from the tips using a blender brush with water in it onto one of my blocks and did it with a few different colored pencils until I got the color I liked.  Not sure if you can tell in the pic, but I colored all around the flowers in a pale blue too just to add a little dimension.

The card seemed a little plain so I spritzed it with a bit of Shimmmer Gold Color Splash.  I got it a little darker than planned, but that's the way it goes with color splashes sometimes. lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Love Paris ~ Fun Stampers Journey Card

I'm finally getting a chance to post another card for you.  I'm hoping to post four or five more this week too while I'm on vacation.  I was pretty busy prepping for my stamp a stacks that I had last week using the few supplies that I now own from Fun Stampers Journey.  I have some more goodies ordered so I'm hoping when I come back from vacation I'll have them to play with!! :)  Today's card is for this week's challenge at Try Stampin' - or Not - on Tuesday.  I have to admit I fudged it quite a bit to make the sketch work with what I had.  That said I made a clean and simple birthday card for anyone who likes Paris. :)

Here's the sketch we're playing with this week.  Make sure you stop in at Try Stampin' - or Not - on Tuesday to check out what all the designers created and play along with us if you have a chance. :)

I was trying to use fall colors for this card since the optional theme is autumn colors, but with only four ink pads right now it was kind of hard to do! lol  I checked out pics of the Eiffel Tower and saw trees around it and decided to make it look like it's in the distance with the edges of trees around it that are closer.  I didn't want the leaves to be really dark so I stamped on scrap paper once, then quickly re-stamped the leaves on my card stock to give the leaves a lighter color.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stampin' Up! ~ Happy Birthday Bloom

Today I have a fun shaker card to show you that I made for my daughter's birthday last month.  Boy are shaker cards hard to get a good picture of!  The light wants to glare off the window sheet!  I finally managed though...whew!  I used some of the left over glitter from this month's Paper Pumpkin kit to put inside.  And I was picky and had to pick through them because I didn't want some of the colors in there.  I also added some hearts in Pool Party using the Confetti Hearts Border punch to fill it up a bit more.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Helping Me Grow in Watermelon Wonder

While trying to figure out a card for a card swap that I was in I "watercolored" this card and decided I was going to send it to my aunt for her birthday.  I love the bright color of the flowers and the pale blue in the background.

Definitely an easy card to make!  I stamped the images with VersaMark on watercolor paper and embossed them with white embossing powder.  To get the different shades of color I did one petal at a time.  I'd get the whole petal wet using an aqua painter (or paintbrush if you prefer), then I'd add the color on the bottom of the petal and let it bleed upward.

I did the same with the "Happy Birthday".  I stamped everything with VersaMark and embossed it in white, then cut it out with the Rose Garden Thinlits.  Then I wet the whole inside and put my color in with an aqua painter using Soft Sky.

Birthday Blooms in Watercolor

I finally had a chance to sit down and use a new set from the Occasions catalog called Birthday Blooms.  It's a beautiful flower that was begging to be colored so that's what I did. :)

I embossed it with silver embossing powder on watercolor paper, then watercolored everything using Mossy Meadow for the leaves and Blackberry Bliss for the flowers.  I can't say I love the bottom part of the card, but I needed to put something there and was in a hurry to get the card ready to be mailed since I was a little late sending it out.

Botanical Birthday

Today's card shows that I finally had a chance to play with some flowers.  As much as I love winter (when there's snow!) I also miss walking in my yard and checking out the different flowers that I have all around.  The sketch challenge this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday was the perfect sketch to play with some flowers and I did that with the Botanical Builders Framelits Dies.

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE and check out what the other designers did with this sketch.  And show us what you create if you get a chance. We'd love to see it! :)

I sponged around the edges of each of the flowers and used my bone folder to curl the paper.  That gives the flower a lot more dimension.  I also made a little boxed envelope with a band to go around it with flowers on it too for my niece's birthday.  I totally forgot to take pictures of that though! I wasn't there when she opened it, but was told she really liked it. :)  I hope so!

Serene World of Dreams

Just a quick post today to show you something I created WAY back in September for my stamp a stacks.  Actually my daughter helped me with this one.  I had created something similar to this, but it just didn't look quite right.  Well she grabbed some card stock that I had cut up and was sitting on my craft table.  She started layering what I had stamped and here you have it.  Did I mention she hates stamping! lol  She's actually pretty creative but hates doing crafts.  Funny thing is she loves to shop and I hate it! Now if only we could both like the same thing. lol

Just a couple more pics of the front of the card and the inside also.

Watercolor Inspiration

Do you ever look at other peoples' cards and just get inspired?  I'm sure most of us have and that's what today's post is all about for me.  I  needed both a birthday and an anniversary card and  had just happened to be looking at a bunch of cards by Birgit.  The first card in her post HERE definitely inspired me.  Fascinating colors to be using together.  I grabbed a few of my ink pads, watercolor paper, aqua painters and went to work.  Two cards, same colors, totally different looks.  That's what so fun with watercoloring...you never know what you're going to get.  Her cards are just wonderful, especially if you're looking for a watercolored look.  Plus they are so clean and simple.  She sure makes water coloring look easy doesn't she?

The first card I made into a birthday card.  I taped off the edges on this card and after I stamped and embossed the trees I did add more color on.  I didn't want the trees to look like they were floating around on the paper. lol

The anniversary card was a little more flexible as you can see! lol  It just did not want to stay straight, but flop all over when I was taking picutres.  It's hard to see here, but the water colored piece is actually framed and popped up with dimensionals.  I definitely added more color after I embossed these trees because they really looked like they were floating! lol  I guess that's the fun with water coloring.  You can change things up a little if you're careful. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Calla Lily Birthday

I made a quick card last week for my stamping friend's birthday, but waited to post it until tonight since I didn't want her to see it on my blog or any of my galleries before she got it. ;)  Hugs and Happy Birthday, Friend!  You know who you are. :)

I used the new Stampin' Up! set Remarkable You for her card.  I stamped the calla lilies with VersaMark, embossed them in white and cut them out.  I sponged the color on them using So Saffron, Pink Pirouette and Wild Wasabi.  I used watercolor paper for the background and did a watercolor wash using So Saffron and Pink Pirouette also.  When it was dry I ran it through my Big Shot using the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.  I sponged around the edges of the "Happy Birthday" and the edges of the card stock with the flowers on it once again using So Saffron and Pink Pirouette.  I popped up the lilies and Happy Birthday with dimensionals and finished the card off with a few Pearls.

I can't forget to add that this card was inspired by Sketch and Stamp #111 HERE and this is the sketch I worked with.  Have I ever mentioned I love sketch challenges? ;)

Happy 20th Rachel!

Today's card was made special for my "baby".  She turned 20 yesterday and I had to make her something right?!  Since I love the new set from Stampin' Up! called Remarkable You I decided to use the water lily for her card (at least I think it's a water lily!).  I wanted lily pads to go with it too so I ended up making a stamp for that using the carving kit that I bought a while ago from Stampin' Up!  I don't believe it's available anymore, but I have to admit it did the trick!  It took a bit of time to carve the stamp out, but I think it was definitely worth it in the end.   My daughter said I carved a new stamp just for her.  Hmm...I don't know if I did it "just" for her because it's for me too! ;)  Hope you like today's card. :)

Beautiful Blue Butterfly

I just wanted to get a quick post out showing a cute card I made using a bit of the old with a bit of the new. :)

It's one of the cards I'm having the ladies make for this month's stamp a stacks.  It's a very simple one to make so I know they'll like that! :)

Just a bit of a close up for you to see...

Clean and Simple Birthday with 2015-2017 In Colors

Today I have a very clean and simple card for you using this week's sketch from Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday using the new 2015-2017 In colors from Stampin' Up!  I never know if I'm going to like the next set of In Colors when I first see them and that was definitely the case with this group...I was pretty skeptical, but thought I'd better get them out and try them before I judged them too harshly.  Well I ended up really liking them so I can't complain! lol

Here's this week's sketch from Try Stampin' and I love it!  I just really like the sketches we have over there.  They are usually pretty simple, but help me create a lot of cards that I end up loving. :)  Head over to their blog HERE to see all the other great cards by the team's designers and play along with us too.  We'd love to see what you create!

Just a couple more pics to check out...
